Succulent Pumpkins Workshop with Leslie Geer (Wednesday, October 8, 2025)

$135.00

Wednesday, October 8, 2025 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Bring a friend and welcome the season and all things harvest-y at Pharsalia’s Succulent Pumpkins workshop hosted by Leslie Geer. Leslie, who tends gardens year round on the grounds of Pharsalia, is a botanical designer with a design studio in downtown Staunton. She creates custom botanical pieces, with a focus on succulents and air plants, repurposing found and collected vintage treasures. She has been developing a program of botanical workshops that have been well-received at Pharsalia and also Staunton, Harrisonburg and Culpeper.

This hands-on workshop will encourage creativity as Leslie shares techniques on how to make a Succulent Pumpkin that will add a touch of whimsey to your holiday decor. Think centerpiece, place card holders, hostess gifts… you get the idea! Adorable pumpkins topped with living succulents, dried flowers, preserved moss and other botanical bits. Long-lasting and easy to care for, they will bring cheer to all of your holiday occasions. Months down the road, you’ll know it’s time to replant your succulents and compost your pumpkin when the pumpkin’s bottom becomes soft to the touch. When this happens, you can just lift off the succulent arrangement, moss and all, and place it in a pot with soil. Easy! Your pot should be kept inside for the winter.

Fee for the workshop is $135.00 per person and includes instruction, one 8-inch pumpkin, 5 succulent cuttings, 2 air plants and a selection of dried flowers, botanical bits and moss. Lunch will be provided by Pharsalia.

Please bring a pair of clippers to this workshop along with a box to transport your pumpkin home. This workshop is rain or shine.

CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds will be given 7 days or fewer from the day of the event.

WEATHER POLICY: Refunds will only be given if we are unable to reschedule the event.
