Eco Printing with Flowers: Flowers to Dye For Workshop with Leslie Geer

Using a hammer to create art with something as delicate as flowers seems unconventional, right? Well, the results are undeniable. Eco printing is a technique of replicating a flowers colors and shapes using the method of coaxing the flowers to transfer to paper or fabric by gently pounding with a hammer. Join us in learning this simple method for botanical printing on fabric using the natural dyes in plants.

We will provide you with a brand new organic cotton canvas tote bag that we’ve prepared with a mordant to help the natural dyes take hold to the fabric. After a brief demonstration and explanation of the printing technique, we will provide a guided tour of the gardens where you will choose and cut fresh flowers to create your masterpiece.

All classes are designed for beginners or seasoned gardeners and no flower experience is necessary. So grab a friend (or two) and come join in the fun of hammering flowers and go home with a beautiful (thanks to you) new tote bag printed with your very own original art!

Please bring clippers, a small hammer and some white fabric scraps to practice the technique before working on your tote bag. This workshop is rain or shine.

Fee for the workshop is $110.00 and lunch will be provided by Pharsalia.
