Natural Dying with Flowers Workshop with Leslie Geer (Tuesday, September 9, 2025)
Tuesday, September 9, 2025 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Using a hammer to create art with something as delicate as flowers seems unconventional, right? Well, the results are undeniable. Eco printing is a technique of replicating a flower’s colors and shapes using the method of coaxing the flowers to transfer to paper or fabric by gently pounding with a hammer. Join us in learning this simple method for botanical printing on fabric using the natural dyes in plants.
We will provide you with a brand-new organic cotton canvas tote bag that we’ve prepared with a mordant to help the natural dyes take hold to the fabric. After a brief demonstration and explanation of the printing technique, you will have a curated buffet of freshly-cut flowers from the farm to select from to create your masterpiece.
All classes are designed for beginners or seasoned gardeners and no flower experience is necessary. So, grab a friend (or two) and come join in the fun of hammering flowers and go home with a beautiful (thanks to you) new tote bag printed with your very own original art!
Please bring clippers, a small hammer and some white fabric scraps to practice the technique before working on your tote bag. If sensitive to noise, please bring ear plugs as this technique is a little loud at times.
Fee for the workshop is $115.00 and lunch will be provided by Pharsalia. This workshop is rain or shine.
CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds will be given 7 days or fewer from the day of the event.
WEATHER POLICY: Refunds will only be given if we are unable to reschedule the event.
